Installation Instructions

In order to install InfoDirect® for your school, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the InfoDirect® Program Installer file. Copy this file to the SDS fileserver.
  2. The setup program must be run on the SD server at your school. Double-click on the InfoDirect® Program Installer file and answer the installation questions. If the installation wizard asks for a user name and password, make sure you supply one with Windows administrative rights to the local machine.
  3. After installing InfoDirect®, open School Dynamics® and navigate to Administrative Tools menu. Go to the InfoDirect Administration screen and then to the Setup screen. Set up your school's FTP username and password for downloading updates and using InfoDirect®. Please remember that the FTP username and password are case sensitive.
  4. Go back to the InfoDirect® Main Menu and select Maintain Family Accounts. You can now assign family passwords individually or for your entire school by clicking on the appropriate buttons. Issue a password to each subscribed family by clicking on the record selector immediately to the left of the Name/Student Email column. Press either the Subscribe Screen Student or Subscribe Screen Student/Siblings button. You may also subscribe All Active Students and their families. The passwords are case sensitive. The user name for each parent will be his or her family ID. Make sure that each parent/guardian guards their user name and password. Students should not know the password for any family accounts.
  5. Check the Send To box for Parent 1, Parent 2, or the Non-Custodial parent. This will activate that family to upload information nightly. NOTE: The parent that is checked MUST have an email address. An email address is a PREREQUISITE to be a part of InfoDirect®.
  6. You can download a InfoDirect® graphic button and place it on your school's website. Instructions for downloading and installing the graphic can be found here.
  7. Your school's InfoDirect® account will be activated upon receipt of the subscription payment.
